The dolmuş wins on raw price every time. But from two people up, the private car is dramatically cheaper than the excursion — and it includes things the excursion doesn't (upper-gate drop-off, no shopping stop, your own timing).

2. Time — the real currency on a port day

Taxi: 20–25 minutes each way, zero waiting to depart. On a 9-hour port call you'll spend ~50 minutes travelling and the rest exploring.
