How to Get from Kusadasi Cruise Port to Ephesus (2026)

Where your ship docks — and where the taxis are

Cruise ships dock at Ege Port, right in the centre of Kusadasi. You walk off the ship, through the small terminal and the shopping arcade, and out of the port gate onto Atatürk Boulevard. The central taxi stand is about three minutes on foot to your right, opposite the historic Öküz Mehmed Paşa Caravanserai — the big stone building you can't miss. Akın's stand is exactly there. The four ways to get to Ephesus

1. Private taxi (fixed price)

Door to door, leaves when you want, waits while you visit, brings you back to the gangway with time to spare. 2. Dolmuş (shared minibus)

The budget option. From the Kusadasi dolmuş station (a 10–15 minute walk from the port), minibuses run to Selçuk roughly every 20–30 minutes; from Selçuk you take a second minibus or a short taxi to the Ephesus lower gate. Cost is a few euros per person; total time is 45–60 minutes each way plus waiting. It's a perfectly good adventure if you have a long port day and don't mind the transfers — but you must watch the clock, and the last leg back can be crowded when several ships are in.

3. Ship excursion

Booked on board, typically $80–120 per person, in a group of 30–50 with a guide. The advantage is the ship's guarantee — if the bus is late, the ship waits. The disadvantages: group pace, fixed departure time, and usually a compulsory carpet or leather "demonstration" stop that eats an hour of your day.

4. Private shuttle sold at the port

Various companies sell seats in minibuses on ship days. Prices and quality vary; departure often waits until the vehicle fills. Ask exactly when it leaves and when it returns before paying.

• Cash for the ticket. Card readers at the gate work most days — but not all days.
